CineVegas Film Festival with Dennis Hopper

Hollywoodreporter: Dennis Hopper and Las Vegas. The two names conjure very specific images of a free-spirited, anything-goes attitude. So it's no surprise the indie film icon has associated himself so closely with the CineVegas Film Festival.

"CineVegas is a reflection of my own artistic beliefs," says Hopper, who serves as chair of the fest's creative advisory board and is the lead in the Starz series "Crash." "It has films that take chances, push boundaries, challenge audiences, which I've always tried to do in my own career as a filmmaker and artist."

Hopper will be in attendance tonight as the 11th annual event gets under way at the Palms hotel and casino. Its opening-night film is "Saint John of Las Vegas," a buddy comedy starring another indie icon, Steve Buscemi, as well as Sarah Silverman, Peter Dinklage and Romany Malco.

Celebrity Autobiography: In Los Angeles

"Celebrity Autobiography: In Their Own Words" -- readings from celebrity autobiographies, is coming back to Los Angeles for a one off show. A number of guest readers have already added their name to this one-night-only performance including; Craig Bierko, Matthew Perry, Carrie Fisher, Fred Willard and Ryan Reynolds.

Proceeds will be benefiting Loma Linda University Children's Hospital and it's sure to be a good night.

Eugene Pack, the creator of the show says,

"We have added such authors as the Jonas Bros (Burning Up), Miley Cyrus (Miles to Go) and Eminem ("The Way I Am" -- which has turned into a Hamletesque soliloquy). Of course, some of our favorites are epic ensemble pieces which combine the autobiographies of Burt Reynolds (My Life), Loni Anderson (My Life in Heels) and Burt's secretary Elaine Blake Hall (Burt and Me: My Days and Nights With Burt Reynolds). We juxtapose three memoirs to tell one story. And of course ... the combined memoirs of Eddie Fisher, Elizabeth Taylor and Debbie Reynolds -- which we refer to as "Rashomon and on and on and on ..."

I've heard that the Burt Reynolds stuff is really funny and I'm jealous of anybody who gets to go. I believe they also cover Mr. T's autobiography that I can only imagine would be hysterical. If Eugene Pack is ever looking for material, I'd suggest he does a whole Navtones section. He's already got Burt Reynolds and Mr. T, now just add Gary Busey, Kim Cattrall and Dennis Hopper into the equation and you've got material that literally writes itself.

TomTom: Turn-By-Turn Car Navigation For iPhone Is Here

Check out this official video clip from: http://iphone.tomtom.com.

The iphone TomTom app seems to have a lot of people excited. I'll have to admit, I'm one of these people.

Check it out and let me know what you think?

TomTom iphone app: It's Coming!

Mirror: The TomTom turn by turn GPS app for the iPhone has just been unveiled at Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC), along with an iPhone car holder to help you keep your eyes on the road!

We knew that turn by turn was coming with iPhone OS 3.0, but TomTom has made its iPhone app super official at WWDC in San Francisco. Looks wise, the TomTom iPhone app has huge icons and sparse text so you’ll be able to find your way around no problem, and once you choose your route it opens up into the familiar TomTom mapping. Text to speech is present and accounted for, and the iPhone will work in both landscape and portrait with it.

TomTom also wheeled out an iPhone car holder kit which locks in your iPhone with TomTom's ingenious twisty sucker, and recharges it to boot! Unfortunately, the one piece of info TomTom didn't let slip is when the iPhone app will hit the App Store, but we'll bring you that as soon as we know.

Navtones on the iphone? I think having the likes of; Mr. T, Dennis Hopper, Burt Reynolds, Kim Cattrall and Gary Busey giving you turn-by-turn direction on your iphone sounds awesome. Keep checking back for updates.

Another Award For TomTom

TotalPDA: TomTom has received the Auto Express Product of the Year 2009 Award for its GO x40 LIVE series of connected sat nav devices. Having previously scooped the Auto Express Best Buy 2009 award this February for the GO 740 LIVE, it seems TomTom continue to impress with the GO x40 LIVE series.

Kim Adams of Auto Express commented, "This set-up is uncannily accurate, and works in tandem with the brand’s IQ routes system – which uses historical data to select the best route for when you are traveling – to keep journey times to a minimum. It is the missing link for portable sat-navs, and just has to be our Product of the Year."

Friday Fun With The Buseydales

This morning I was going through my emails when one in particular caught my eye. A friend had sent me an email with the subject being; Gary Busey Does Chippendale's. Now, you understand why the email caught my eye, right? But why, oh for the love of God, why did I proceed in opening it?

Some might argue that Gary Busey should be heard and not seen. After watching the clip below, I agree with them. Don't get me wrong, I love Gary Busey, he says some wacky, crazy but yet enlightening things. In-fact, Gary Busey is the Navtones voice I've been using this week. He's cracked me up in laughter every time I've gone for a drive and he tells me to pick up road kill and eat it. The guy's a living legend! However, Gary Busey thrusting his crotch at you as a Chippendale, kindda disturbing right?

So to sum up:
*Gary Busey giving you turn-by-turn directions, YES.
*Gary Busey as a Chippendale thrusting his crotch at you, NO.

Thankfully It's not real!

Navtones Said it First: Obama is Becoming Mr. T

When Obama was still fighting it out with Mccain in the 2008 Presidential Debates we made we a mash-up video using Mr. T's voice as Braack Obama and Gary Busey's voice for John Mccain. Check out the video below:

Well, now it's really happening. Slowly but surely, Obama is becoming Mr. T.

In the clip below President Barack Obama is presented with a gold necklace called the King Abdul Aziz Order of Merit, Saudi Arabia's highest honor. It was given to him by Saudi King Abdullah at the start of their bilateral meeting, taking place at the King's Farm in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

For safekeeping Obama then takes off the gold necklace and hands it back to a helper. A lot of people out there are claiming that Obama actually took the gold chain off because he was somewhat aware of the inevitable Mr. T jokes that would be forthcoming. Well, we here at Navtones had Obama pegged as Mr. T from the get-go. With Obama now sporting this kind of bling you'll have to agree it would be hard to argue with us. Mr. T would be proud and if I may speak on his behalf, "Ha ha, nice going, fool."

SATC Suspicious Box

Earlier this week, Clinton Square, Syracuse, NY was cleared of people as the Syracuse police examined a suspicious box left at the base of the parks Civil War monument.

So what suspicious box could shut down Clinton Square for two hours in the middle of the day? The "Sex and the City" trivia game of course!

A passerby reported the suspicious box to police about 2 p.m. and police were standing by the box while waiting for a bomb disposal expert to examine it. The box was on a step, fountain side of the monument. The wind blew florescent pink game cards into the square's fountain, where they sank. Dun Dun Dunnnnnh!

"A man appeared to leave the game in the square at about 1:40 p.m"., Lt. Joe Cecile, of the Syracuse police, said. The police first tried to track down the man and get him to return to the park to open the box. "That turned out to be unsuccessful", Cecile added.

Police reopened Clinton Square at about 4 p.m. and determined the box did, in fact, contain game pieces from the "Sex and the City" trivia game.

Now, "Sex and the City" has blown many people away with its racy storylines and the gorgeous Kim Cattrall, but I'm happy to say that on this occasion "Sex and the City" didn't blow anyone away. No, instead SATC just shut down a park for 2 hours and left some poor sod without his trivia game.

What does Gary Busey and Zac Efron Have In Common?

Zac Efron is to follow in Gary Busey's footsteps and take on a cameo role in the hit TV series "Entourage."

MTV News confirmed that Efron will appear in the show this season and will be playing himself. Efron was seen filming the cameo at Niketown in Beverly Hills. The crew, along with the "17 Again" star, arrived around 9 a.m., before the store opened, to shoot the scene.

"He was filming a scene and talking on his cell phone," one Niketown employee told the E! News. "None of the other 'Entourage' cast was here. He was really nice... He was wearing sunglasses, and he left in a limo with another guy."

I'm sure Efron will do a good job taking on the cameo role but if he needs any tips, I recommend he checks out how Busey did it. You never know, do as good a job as Busey and maybe we'll consider you for a Navtones voice too.

Check out Busey's cameo on "Entourage" below. This my young friend is what you have to live up to.

Pub Bench Thieves on Crimewatch

BBC: "Footage of three men who broke into a pub by stacking picnic benches on top of each other to reach an upstairs window is being played on Crimewatch.

Police investigating the theft at the Green Dragon pub in Welshpool have so far drawn a blank.

They hope members of the public will recognise the thieves who stole £2,200 in the break-in early on 29 September.

Two of the unidentified males can be seen entering the pub while a third keeps watch.

Once climbing the benches they used a crow bar to prise open a first floor window.

They also stole a TomTom satnav once inside.

Dyfed-Powys Police said there had been on going appeals for information locally but to no avail."

All I can say is I hope the TomTom they stole had was loaded with the Navtones Mr. T voice. Mr. T don't like no scummy thieves. Mr. T would have no pity on these guys. I mean, you can find some great deals on TomTom devices right now; you don't need to be braking into pubs. Click here to check out some great deals.

TomTom Podium Finish: Did Mr. T Help?

paddocktalk: "Target Chip Ganassi Racing’s Scott Dixon recorded the team’s 67th open wheel win Sunday at The Milwaukee Mile, giving the defending IndyCar Series champion the point lead heading into next weekend’s race in Texas where he is also the defending racewinner. Teammate Dario Franchitti gave the Target team a double podium finish with his third place result in the No.10 TomTom car.

Franchitti’s solid run started from eighth on the grid. The TomTom car moved up five positions to the podium after leading once for 19 laps.

With the results, Dixon takes the IndyCar point lead with 161, while Franchitti slips from first to second in the standings with 157."

It seems to me that they must have taken our advice and loaded the TomTom car with Navtones. Franchitti might not admit that this is how he got a podium spot, but we all know the truth, you can't move up 5 positions without a little help from Mr. T.

The Knight Rider Car

Dubbed "The Knight Rider Car" I’m really not too sure what to think about this, especially when you can get the Knight Rider GPS and look cool, as opposed to a tool in a golf cart.

OK, so I guess I should give you a bit more information. Here's what Claire Bates for the Daily Mail had to say about the CyCab, aka "The Knight Rider Car":

"Hate motorway driving and tackling rush-hour traffic?

Well, in the not too distant future, such journeys could be a breeze thanks to the driverless CyCab.

Using GPS technology similar to that which guides cruise missiles, the vehicles follow a path programmed by a touchscreen.

Standard GPS is only accurate to within a few meters so the CyCab is equipped with a special type called real-time kinematic GPS, which is accurate to about a centimeter.

Developed by French company INRIA over 10 years, the Cycab looks like a futuristic golf cart. It uses a laser to avoid obstacles in its pathand a dual-lens camera to follow road markings. It can even be navigated from a mobile phone.

Each CyCab also communicates via the internet. This means that the vehicles can share information so that they can follow one another at a small distance, or surf the web and gather real-time traffic information so that they can avoid traffic jams.

An automated voice gives information to passengers along the route, much like the KITT car from the popular TV series Knight Rider, which starred David Hasselhoff"...

Hmm, I guess the future of transit has to lay somewhere but I personally don't fancy being driven around in a golf cart. Saying that, maybe Navtones should contact the Cycab people and see if they at least want to make the golf carts kind of cool by adding some of our awesome celebrity voices. "The Cycab is going to turn left, fool."

The article also touches on the new ULTa (Urban Light Transit) system. The ULTa uses similar technology and as of November, holidaymakers arriving and leaving London Heathrow's Terminal 5 will actually use these driverless cars. Mackenzie Phillips To Take Over From Gary Busey

TMZ reports that Mackenzie Phillips is set to pick up where Gary Busey left off by becoming the "Sober Coach" for the 3rd series of 'Celebrity Rehab.'

Phillips was busted for cocaine in August 2008, but had the majority of the charges against her dropped and the final charge will be dropped when she completes a drug diversion program. By all indications, Mackenzie has done a complete 180 and says the arrest saved her life.

Best known for her role in the 1973 movie American Graffiti, Phillips has since then been in and out of rehab a staggering 10 times. I don't think anybody will be able to fill the boots of Gary Busey as "Sober Coach" but Phillips statistics are quite impressive.

Here's my wish for the new season: Gary Busey doesn't know that he's been dropped as "Sober Coach", Phillips is equally as crazy as Busey, Phillips is going about her business in the Celebrity Rehab house when Busey turns up to report for duty, Phillips is like "What the F Man", big fight happens. They then both realize they have a lot in common and gradually fall in love with one another, they get married, they have children, the children look like miniature horses…, the cycle starts again.

Sounds good to me! Maybe we can have their miniature horse children as new voices on Navtones. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Busey At Point Break Live

By Erin Broadley for LA Weekly: "Actor Gary Busey made a special appearance at the Dragonfly on Friday night for the May 22 performance of Point Break Live!, the wildly popular punk-rock stage adaptation of the 1991 action flick Point Break which starred Busey as seasoned FBI agent and general badass, Angelo Pappas, opposite Keanu Reeves' Johnny Utah.

During the performance Busey clearly enjoyed himself, cheering and heckling from the front row, wearing his "survival kit" rain poncho, and even picking up a cap gun and Super Soaker to join the cast members for the show's final shoot-out. I joined the cast backstage after the show for what was an epic night in Point Break Live! history."

What a Pitch From Mr. T

It was Memorial Day yesterday and as much as I hope everyone took a little bit of time to remember what the day is all about, I also hope you had a nice day off. It sure looks as if Mr. T did.

Mr. T was at Wrigley Field to toss the first pitch and sing "Take Me out to the Ballgame" during the seventh inning stretch.

I'm sure you can tell by the picture just how awesome this was, but wait till you've seen the video. Wow, maybe this is why he doesn't sing "Treat Your Mother Right" or "Be Somebody" live any more.

Navtones In The News

An article on MSN titled "The (Automated) Voice Of Reason" speaks about the human and technology relationship, partially in-car voice navigation.

The article explores "how computerized voices impact the humans who hear and 'interact' with them. The bottom line: Even though we know we're not talking to another person, our brain still expects two-way communication and functions as if it's happening."

So what can be done to bridge the gap? How can you make the technology we take for granted more personable? BOOM, that's where Navtones steps in:

"One company, Navtones, aims to personalize in-car navigation by offering voices from celebrities like Mr. T, Kim Cattrall and Burt Reynolds. The celebs throw in some personalized banter and safety tips in an effort to bridge the human-computer gap. (Does Reynolds go all 'Smokey and the Bandit' if a police car pulls up behind you?) But is that enough?"

That's right MSN, Natones is bridging the gap and bringing entertainment to every drive. And in answer to your question, of course Reynolds will go all 'Smokey and the Bandit' on your ass if the cops pull up, or at least that's what I tell them!

Tele Atlas & TomTom Sticking Together

If you been hearing some rumors about a Tele Atlas and TomTom split, maybe the article below will put your mind at ease.

PARIS, May 21 (Reuters)
- Tele Atlas has had no talks and sees no sense in separation from TomTom, which bought the digital map maker last year for 2.9 billion euros ($4 billion) and is struggling with a debt-load.

Analysts have been suggesting TomTom may be forced to sell Tele Atlas as it may breach its loan covenants.

"It's not an option we've spent a second thinking about -- there's no discussion," Tele Atlas Chief Executive Bill Henry said at the Reuters Global Technology summit in Paris.

"I think the value is in the integrated group because this whole community is essential to the mapmaking process, and that community exists through the integration of TomTom and Tele Atlas. So I don't think it makes any sense to look at them separately," he added...

Make Memorial Day Meaningful

Kim Cattrall loves to shop and knows that Memorial Day is a great shopping day, but she also knows it means so much more.

Below is an article written by Cattrall accompanied with a short video. All she asks is for us to make Memorial Day and Veterans' Day meaningful again. Take a read and then be sure to sign the pledge to support and help war veterans beyond just remembering.

From huffingtonpost.com: "I'm a pretty good shopper, so I know that Memorial Day is a great shopping day. But I'm also the child of a proud military family, and I know that we need to make holidays like Memorial Day and Veterans' Day more than just another chance to buy things on sale.

My family has served in the military dating back at least four generations, so I can truly appreciate the sacrifices made by those men and women who have fought so courageously in defense of freedom. Getting deployed changes a family irrevocably, and the veterans returning with injuries -- both the obvious physical ones as well as the invisible psychological ones -- and their families so need our support.

That's why I decided to become the national spokesperson for Beyond Tribute, the first-ever nationwide grassroots initiative specifically focusing on using Memorial Day and Veterans' Day to raise awareness and funds for research, treatment, and support for Armed Service veterans suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), and other neurological afflictions.

I recorded a short video promoting Beyond Tribute, and I encourage you to watch it. But the most important thing any of us can do is sign the pledge to shop at Beyond Tribute business and event partners over the holidays.

By Veterans Day, we hope to be able to raise significant money for veterans in need from the very businesses that usually capitalize on these solemn holidays. But before businesses will sign on, they need to see that people are committed to truly honoring, and actually helping, former service members.

I'm honored to have the opportunity to do something that helps the hundreds of thousands who continue to suffer the wounds of war long after the fighting on the battlefield has ended. They deserve our thanks, but most importantly, they deserve our help as they struggle to reclaim their lives."

Sign the Beyond Tribute pledge today.

GPS Could Fail by 2010

Driving home yesterday after work, I always listen to news radio just to catch up on the day’s events. Imagine my shock when one of the headlines was: GPS Could Fail by 2010. Of course they then went to a commercial and left me waiting to hear what they had to say, but when they did come back this is pretty much how it went down.

The Global Positioning System faces the possibility of failures and blackouts, a federal watchdog agency has warned the U.S. Congress. Mismanagement by and underinvestment by the U.S. Air Force places the GPS at risk of failure in 2010 and beyond. The problem: Delays in launching replacement satellites, among other things.

According to the Government Accountability Office report, "In recent years, the Air Force has struggled to successfully build GPS satellites within cost and schedule goals" as part of a $2 billion modernization program.

"If the Air Force does not meet its schedule goals for development of GPS IIIA satellites, there will be an increased likelihood that in 2010, as old satellites begin to fail, the overall GPS constellation will fall below the number of satellites required to provide the level of GPS service that the U.S. government commits to."

Here's what Fox news had to say about it.

Can I just point out that I do not believe that any of the Navtones voices would ever let you down. I mean, lets use Mr. T and Gary Busey as an example: Mr. T pity's satellites and Gary Buesy couldn't care less. We'll have to get Dennis Hopper to take on the government, like he so often does, and get this problem fixed.

Press Release: Mr. T Baby Style

The 80s are back, according to designers and fashionistas, and now children and even newborn babies can join in the fun, with a new range of 80s icon children's clothing from TheKidsWindow.co.uk.

PRWEB: They called it the decade that taste forgot. Well, guess what? The era that brought us yuppies and BMX bikes is back, but this time it will be more stylish, especially for kids.

TheKidsWindow.co.uk are proud to anounce the launch of a new, excusive range of tee-shirts and all-in-ones featuring famous faces from the 80s. Available in a range of colours, the new range promises to outlast the whims of fashion and will appeal to all parents with a taste for nostalgia.

The Kids Window aren't the only clothing retailers to see the trend. The 90s and early 2000s have mostly seen fairly bland fashions, but now we're ready to express ourselves and our tastes again. Many high-street retailers have launched new ranges in more colours, and they have finally admitted that logos don't with style, according to upcoming designer, Joanna Doherty.

"Mention 1980s fashion and most people will conjure up images of shoulder pads and power dressing, but it was so much more that that" she explains. "It was the era in which the culture of celebrity really took off. Rather than using a brand name to represent their individuality, the public started to idolise and imitate the cult figures of the day. From Kylie to Rambo, people wanted to be associated with not only their heroes, but their heroes' characteristics and the demand for alternative designs soared."

With the trend set to continue until well into the autumn, retailers across the board are keen to capitalise on the public's new love-affair with all things eighties as Jason Lewis, director of The Kids Window, the UK's first web-only children's department store, explains.

"Not all of us want to start stocking up on cans of hairspray" he jokes "but it is clear that products that have a retro feel, or edge, are incredibly popular with children and parents alike. Our new range of unisex t-shirts and rompers, featuring exclusive prints of icons such as Mr T, Kylie and Rambo, for example, have been designed to offer customers a vibrant, on-trend product, that is perhaps more user-friendly than traditional eighties clothing".

The range of http://www.thekidswindow.co.uk/alternative-clothing.htm
[alternative 80s children's clothing , which features six designs including "Kylie", "Sly" and "Bad Attitude", is 100 per cent cotton and available in a choice of four colours. With baby rompers available in sizes zero to six months and six to 12 months and tees starting from zero to six months to nine to 10 years, the new range is set to prove a hit with first-time fans of the pop culture and those keen to revisit the idols of their youth.

She added: "The Uggs are always on the side!"

New SNL Celebrity Jeopardy

It was the season finally of SNL on Saturday and if you missed it, you missed out. Will Ferrell was the host while other huge stars also joined the cast including Tom Hanks and Paul Rudd.

It was one of the best SNL’s I have seen in a long time and the highlight had to be when Will Ferrell took back up his role of playing the host of 'Celebrity Jeopardy.' If you've not seen it then I don't want to ruin it for you, but when Tom Hanks get's himself in the predicaments he does, I'm on the floor crying in laughter.

Burt Reynolds (Norm Macdonald) of course shows up towards the end and gives Trebek (Will Ferrell) some problems. Macdonald plays Reynolds so well I once actually believed it was the real Burt Reynolds.

If you have a spare 10 minutes I highly recommend you watch the clip below. I'm finding it hard to concentrate from laughter so need to go.

Enjoy.

Gary Busey Caught On Google Street View

A lot of people don't like Google driving around in their Google cars taking photos with their Google cameras.

It's all done so they can offer 'Google Map Street View', which allows you to look at one of their maps as if you where standing on the actual street. Well this photo is the reason I love it. I don't really need to see what a street looks like, as a matter of fact; most streets look the same to me. However, every-now-and-then, while Google takes the photos they catch something unexpected.

Well here's a prime example. Gary Busey is one of my favorite Navtones GPS voices but I think Busey is taking his job a little too far. He's now managed to actually get into a map. I wonder if he knows he's been caught on the street view map. It looks like he spotted the Google car. Busey, you never stop amazing me.

Have a good weekend people and try to avoid getting caught by Google doing something you shouldn't.

Hopper's Reign Of Taos Has Italian Plumbers Hopping Mad

In New Mexico Dennis Hopper has been made honorary mayor of Taos. His time in power will run throughout the 2009 Taos Summer of Love which celebrates the 40th anniversary of Hopper's acclaimed film Easy Rider and the spirit of exploration, creativity and fun that not only marked the '60s, but Taos itself.

Hopper has been honorary mayor since May 4th and will remain so until September 30. So how's the town of Taos doing 10 day's into Hopper's reign?

Here are the top 6 things Hopper has influenced so far:

*If you are wearing any Blue Velvet you have a 10 second head start to run and hide.

*If he decided he wants to stay on as mayor of Taos and one vote stands in his way, to swing this vote bribery, extortion and general corruption will be authorized.

*He has tried to eliminate any plumbers that are natively Italian.

*All buses must remain above 50mph.

*Anybody riding a Harley Davidson motorcycle must be bowed down to and offered a choice of marijuana or alcohol.

*All TomTom GPS devices must be loaded with Navtones Dennis Hopper voice.

Wow, 10 days in and all this already. He still has 138 days left in power so you can probably expect some more interesting and exciting changes to come. Sounds to me like things are on the up in the town of Taos, providing you're not wearing blue velvet or you're an Italian plumber!

Kristin Davis Can’t Remember Her Lines

Kristin Davis, who plays the role of Charlotte in Sex and the City chatted with press at Modern Bride's 25 Trendsetters of 2009, which apparently is some sort of awards show.

Speaking about the sequel she said; "We did the first one, and those were our pent-up things that we hadn't finished in the show, so now we're just starting fresh in a way, which is really, really exciting."

I know, I know, it truly is, really, really exciting. With such insightful input I can barely contain myself. She then went on to speak about the other girls and their off screen relationships.

"We see each other when we're not working. Everyone thinks we don't, I don't know why, [maybe] because we don't parade down the street when we're together."

Oh, that's nice, because we all thought… Wait a minute. Just a few weeks ago she was asked the same sort of questions. You can scroll down this page and see the post I put up about it back then. However, she was asked about staying in touch with costars, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall and Cynthia Nixon and back then she said:

"We're so spread out right now - it's mostly e-mail. We're very excited. Sarah's working on another movie right now, Cynthia is still doing her play - we're all kind of spread out. But we'll be back together soon."

This sparked uproar with me because she didn't mention the only 'Sex and the City' girl I like, Kim Cattrall.

So Miss Davis, you don't know why everybody thinks you don't hang-out with each other outside of work? I'm not sure about this but I think I might be able to answer that for you. My guess would be it's because you say you don't hang-out with each other. It's because you tell us that you only stay in touch though email. It's because you don't speak about the only SATC girl with any talent… Like I say, I might be barking up the wrong tree here but I would hunch my bets that, that is why everybody thinks you don’t see each other off set. Yes, no, maybe? I think so.

New TomTom GO 740

The TomTom Go 740 is finally here.

I've not had a chance to play with the TomTom GO 740 myself but I've been looking around and reading any reviews I can find on it. From what I’m reading the biggest problem is the price $400, followed by the $9.95 you have to pay a month to get 'hit-or-miss' live traffic updates.

It looks go though and like all TomTom devices you can make it even cooler by adding some Navtones.

Engadget.com: Way back at CES, TomTom proudly announced that its GO 740 LIVE personal navigation device would be its very first "connected GPS" to hit the United States of America. Just last month, the company announced that said unit was finally shipping to anxious consumers. Hardware wise, there's nothing here outside of the ordinary, but it's the little extras that make all the difference in the world here -- or, at least that's what TomTom wants you to think. Is this $400 navigator worth the up front costs, let alone the monthly fee to keep it connected? Head on past the break for our take...

Poker Pro Accused of Making an Awful Deal

From TMZ: "Bluffs work at the tables, not in real life -- a lesson one professional poker player could learn after allegedly screwing a company out of big bucks over the movie "Deal."

Gambling Times, Inc. claims poker player Scott Lazar (the movie's exec. producer) promised the company a "highly visible" product placement during the film -- which starred Burt Reynolds and Shannon Elizabeth -- in exchange for a $50,000 investment.

But according to the lawsuit, filed in L.A. County Superior Court, the plug was far from highly visible... because it didn't exist at all.

Now here's the ironic part: G.T. is suing Lazar for no less than $1,000,000 in damages -- but the film only made... get this... $78,000 WORLDWIDE when it hit theaters back in 2008.

You don't have to be a poker player to know that's a major bust."

Star Trek With Kim Cattrall

So the new Star Trek movie was the clear winner at the weekend box-office bringing in $72.5 million.

But who remembers Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered County? You know, the one with Kim Cattrall in it. That's right, back in 1991 Kim Cattrall took on the role of 'Lieutenant Valeris' and even sported the pointy ears. Star Trek VI made a mere $18 million on its opening weekend back then but is still regarded as one of the best 'Trek' movies to have hit the screen.

So if Kim Cattrall can navigate unexplored galaxies and overcome those pesky Klingons, you know you should feel safe having her give you turn-by-turn directions. So come on, get Kim Cattrall as your co-pilot and have your own adventure.

Kim Cattrall giving you turn-by-turn direction, that's great news, or as they say in Klingon; "Buy' ngop."

New A-Team Casting Rumor

We haven't had any new A-Team casting rumors for a little while so I thought it was about time I corrected this.

Common, the rapper turned actor seems to have hinted that he may be up for the role of B.A. Baracus in the new A-Team movie that will be directed by Joe Carnahan.

I always hate talking about who could be the new B.A. Baracus because in my head and heart, it is, and always will be the one and only Mr. T. Nevertheless here's how the rumor got started.

IESB.net held an interview with Common and asked some pretty straight up questions.

When asked if he could be B.A. Baracus, Common said, "I can't speak on it yet until we know what's going on but that would be an incredible character to play."

Later in the interview when asked if we'll hear something about the part soon, Common adds, "Yes, that's what they are saying, if it goes. But you know you need to keep your pace and patience and let things develop."

So there we have it, not much of a rumor but read into it what you will.

I personally can’t really imagine Common with a Mohawk, I mean correct me if I’m wrong but the guy is bald. I don’t just mean bald, I mean bald, as bald as a boiled egg. Sometimes you have to accept that there are certain things you can't do. I would love to grow a Burt Reynolds mustache, I have tried and I can't, I now recognize this and have moved on. Basically, I don't care who you are, what you can or can't grow, how you act or anything else, there is only one B.A. Baracus and that's Mr. T. Are you with me or am I just being a fool and living in the past?

TomTom Brings The Family Together With Free POIs

Tomtom users in the UK can now download a free set of family friendly points of interest (POI).

Research from 'Enjoy England', the official tourist site for the UK, suggests that more than five million people are considering a holiday at home this year rather than going abroad.

The POIs, which are available on the Enjoy England site, are said to help families save time and help them find new places to explore around the UK.

They have been developed in aid of National Family Week, which encourages families to spend time together and give information about venues and attractions around the country.

These include beaches, theme parks, campsites and wildlife centers as well as 5,000 attractions and more than 500 Tourist Information Centers.

Tomtom representative Damian Woodward said: "We are pleased to support National Family Week and help families explore new places around England."

TomTom On The iPhone, Maybe?

From Electronista: TomTom may be stepping up its efforts to produce turn-by-turn iPhone GPS through a low-key recruitment effort. A job listing for an iPhone app developer doesn't mention the company but asks for someone to develop navigation software in Amsterdam, the location of TomTom's headquarters. The term would start in May or June and last for at least six months.

While the possibility exists that it's another, smaller company developing the GPS app, TomTom was one of the earliest to express an interest in iPhone GPS, confirming its attempts a month ahead of the App Store's launch. Worries over competition and the inherent limits of the iPhone 2.x SDK, which doesn't support vector-based (directional) positioning and other resources needed to fully handle turn-by-turn GPS. iPhone OS 3.0 explicitly supports turn-by-turn directions.

Other major companies will potentially be involved, though Garmin is very unlikely to support the iPhone due to its alliance with ASUS on the nüvifone series of smartphones, which bring Garmin's familiar GPS software to Linux- and Windows Mobile-based hardware.

Stylish Burgundy TomTom ONE

Cnet Reviews: Just in time for Mothers' Day, TomTom is offering a special edition of the TomTom ONE 140 with a "stylish burgundy" casing.

The burgundy TomTom ONE 140 has all of the features of the standard model, such as Advanced Lane Guidance, which helps your dear mother navigate complex freeway interchanges. However, it lacks the text-to-speech of the ONE 140 S. If having street names read aloud is important to your momma, she'll have to be happy with basic black.

The burgundy special edition TomTom ONE 140 is available exclusively at Target stores until May 10 at the reduced price of $146. After Mothers' Day, the price will jump back to the standard price ($179.95), so this is a pretty sweet deal for moms on the go.

Microsoft Vs TomTom. Who Really Won?

I had kind of forgotten about the patent lawsuit between Microsoft Vs TomTom and I'm sure most of us had.

It was far from my mind today until I started reading this interesting article by Charles Babcock. The truth is I had probably forgotten about the lawsuit because it ended in a settlement. But why did it end in a settlement if Microsoft was so adamant that TomTom had infringed on patented software technology?

From Informationweek: I had the chance to corner Andrew Updegrove to talk about Microsoft (NSDQ: MSFT)'s settlement with TomTom, the Dutch GPS navigation device maker that embeds Linux in its product. Microsoft claimed TomTom had violated three of its patents governing file system management. Updegrove painted the settlement as a partial victory.

Updegrove is legal counsel to the Linux Foundation and he follows any open source legal challenge closely. "You can't ignore the fact whenever Microsoft brings patent litigation," he agreed. But in this case, he said, Microsoft may have lost more than it gained.

Although Microsoft asserted in a May 13, 2007, Fortune magazine article that it had concluded open source code violates 235 of its patents and the Linux kernel in particular, 42, it only claimed TomTom was infringing on three of its patents.

Updegrove says that's a sign of how fearful Microsoft is of filing a patent suit and then losing in court. The loss would potentially invalidate the patents, and it doesn't want to expose a long list of its patent portfolio to that kind of risk.

"If it had won or lost in court, it wouldn't have won or lost much in the TomTom suit," he concluded.

In order to get a settlement with TomTom, Microsoft had to give up some claims and offer protections against future infringement claims as well as extract some concession from the Dutch company. In the settlement, Updegrove claims, "Microsoft gave up more than it gained. It put up the table stakes but it folded fast."

The two starred together in the films 'Cannonball Run,' 'Smokey and The Bandit 2' and 'The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas.'
